Anna Witte is a writer, artist, and educator from Vashon Island, Washington. She is the author of award-winning, bilingual (Spanish-English) children’s books including The Parrot Tico Tango (El Loro Tico Tango) and Lola’s Fandango (El Fandango de Lola). Lola’s Fandango won the 2011 Booklist Editor’s Choice award and is an Ezra Jack Keats Honor Book. The book was lovingly illustrated by Micha Archer. Anna has also written the lyrics for a series of sung stories for Tikitiklip Precolombino (Ojitos Productions, Santiago de Chile), the popular collection of short children's movies on ancient Latin American cultures. She recently wrote the story Yara and the Magical Pistachio Tree for an activity booklet for Syrian refugee children in the Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan, for Studio Syria. The project was funded by UNESCO.
